The Physical Education program at Blackhawk Intermediate School is designed to promote active lifestyles, build physical skills, and encourage positive social development in students from Kindergarten through 4th grade. Through structured games, fitness challenges, and team-based activities, students engage in movement that supports coordination, cooperation, and confidence.
Students participate in Physical Education class every four school days for 40 minutes. Lessons focus on improving hand-eye and foot-eye coordination, developing locomotor skills, and learning age-appropriate sports and activities that students can enjoy both in and out of school. Emphasis is placed on participation, effort, safety, and respect—for themselves, their classmates, their teachers, and equipment.
Course Expectations & Safety Reminders
Students are expected to come prepared for class with proper footwear (sneakers) and clothing that allows for safe movement.
If a student is unable to participate due to illness or injury, a written note or doctor’s excuse should be provided.
Grading for Physical Education is based on a Pass/Fail system, with participation, effort, and behavior taken into account.
End-of-Year Highlight: Field Day
