At Blackhawk Intermediate School, our computer classes are designed to build digital literacy and technology skills in a thoughtful, age-appropriate way. Beginning in the primary grades and continuing through grades 3 and 4, students are introduced to essential tools and concepts that prepare them for success in a digital world.
By the time students reach BIS, they have already explored foundational skills like online safety, keyboard and mouse use, and basic coding. In grades 3 and 4, those skills continue to grow as students learn to manage their digital presence, share assignments through platforms like Schoology, and express creativity through projects such as game design with Microsoft MakeCode. Keyboarding, word processing, and responsible technology use are also emphasized to support both academic and personal growth.
Our goal is to ensure that every student gains confidence and competence with technology, while also having fun and discovering new ways to learn and create in the digital space.
