Academic Departments

At Blackhawk Intermediate School, we lay the foundation for lifelong learning by offering engaging, well-rounded academic experiences designed for students in grades 3 and 4. Our core curriculum includes English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies—each taught with a focus on building essential skills, encouraging curiosity, and supporting individual growth.

In addition to core subjects, students participate in Related Arts classes that enrich their educational journey. These include Art, Music, Physical Education, and STEAM, offering hands-on, creative, and collaborative experiences that help students discover new interests and develop important life skills beyond the traditional classroom. Students attend these classes on a four-day rotation, with each session lasting 40 minutes.

Technology instruction is also part of the student experience at BIS. All students participate in Computer class every eight days for 30 minutes, where they build digital literacy, keyboarding, and foundational computer skills appropriate to their grade level.

Our dedicated educators work as a team to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that meets the needs of every child. Explore the academic sections of our site to learn more about what your child will experience and achieve during their time at BIS.
