The Physical Education program at Blackhawk Elementary Schools is designed to promote active lifestyles, build physical skills, and support positive social development for students in Kindergarten through fourth grade. Through structured games, fitness activities, and team challenges, students strengthen coordination, cooperation, and confidence.
Lessons emphasize the development of locomotor skills, hand-eye and foot-eye coordination, and an introduction to age-appropriate sports and activities that encourage lifelong enjoyment of movement. Above all, the program promotes participation, effort, safety, and respect—for self, others, and the learning environment.
Course Expectations & Safety Reminders
Students are expected to come prepared for class with proper footwear (sneakers) and clothing that allows for safe movement.
If a student is unable to participate due to illness or injury, a written note or doctor’s excuse should be provided.
Grading for Physical Education is based on a Pass/Fail system, with participation, effort, and behavior taken into account.
End-of-Year Highlight: Field Day
