Blackhawk Highland Middle School lives our mission - To empower all students to achieve their best every day in preparation for tomorrow. Our staff collaborate both as grade level, and content teams to strategize and support individual student needs. Through academic growth, social-emotional development, and character education, our students in grades 5 through 8 experience an enriching transition from primary to secondary level.
We take great pride in the accomplishments of our students and offer abundant opportunities both in and outside the classroom. Throughout the year, Highland students and staff participate in a variety of service projects that benefit organizations such as the Salvation Army and the American Cancer Society—building empathy, civic responsibility, and community spirit. In addition, all students engage in the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, which fosters a culture of respect, responsibility, and integrity. Students and staff also have opportunities for learning outside of the classroom through our culminating experience of Camp KOK in 5th grade and a trip to Washington D.C. in their 8th grade year.
We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential to student success. Highland encourages parents and guardians to stay actively involved, maintain open communication with teachers, and participate in school events. Families are always welcome to reach out with questions or concerns.
This aligns Highland Middle School with the Blackhawk School District vision – To be a model of excellence in a global community where our students thrive, our educators inspire, and our community grows stronger together.
